The Gourmet Odyssey Wine Experience currently has two partners in the
Bordeaux region. New for the 2017 vintage is the charming Château
Coutet, ideally situated a stone’s throw from the centre of
Saint-Emilion and in heart of the Grand Cru vineyards. To the west of Bordeaux, in the Médoc, our partner for the 2016 and prior vintages is Château Beau Rivage. Both wineries are organically certified, and the vineyards at Château Coutet have been cultivated organically for the 400 years that it has been in the same family!
Adopt some vines in Saint-Emilion or in Macau-en-Médoc, and follow the making of your own personalised bottles of Saint-Emilion Grand Cru red wine at Château Coutet, or your own-labelled bottles of Bordeaux Supérieur at Château Beau Rivage. Both of these organic wineries consistently produce award winning wines year after year and are the perfect place to spend a wine experience day to learn how to make great Bordeaux wines, whether it be by working in the vineyard or discovering the art of blending in the cellar.
Bordeaux is synonymous with wine, and wine is intertwined with the history of the region. The wine routes and vineyards spread in all directions around Bordeaux and are divided into 6 sub-regions: Medoc, Graves, Entre-deux-Mers, Sauternes, Libourne, and Blaye-Bourg. The wine-making regions grow many different grape varietals, the best known ones being Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet France, Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenère for the red wines, and Sémillion, Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle for the white wines.
