The critics sing the praise of our winemakers

News from 23/11/2012

At this time of year, the wine guides for 2013 are starting to appear on the book shelves, and the wine magazines are full of reviews of the latest vintages to be bottled.

As usual, our partner winemakers have been selected among the best wineries in France with multiple references in the guides and the magazines.

Below is a selection of the ratings and reviews:

La Revue du Vin de France Languedoc

Allegria

The Revue du Vin de France, N° 565 October 2012. Languedoc : 100 stand out wineries

The RVF wine magazine recently published an article highlighting the emerging new talents from the Languedoc region.   “The outsiders of yesterday are now shining strong.  After enthusing wine lovers with the richness of their wines, the Languedoc has reached a turning point in its history.  The age of maturity has arrived, thanks to the efforts of the women and men to bring finesse to this prodigious wine region.”  Our winemakers, Delphine and Ghislain d’Abovile feature among the magazines choice of the area’s best wine makers.

The wines from the Allegria winery have also been selected by the Guide Bettane et Desseauve des Vins 2013 and in the November issue of Cuisine et Vins de France.

 Decanter Bordeaux Supérieur

Château Beau Rivage

Decanter, Volume 38 N°2 November 2012. Bordeaux and Bordeaux Supérieur 2010 & 2011

The first vintage of the wine selected by Gourmet Odyssey at Château Beau Rivage has just been bottled and has been recommended by Decanter in their review of the best 2010 Bordeaux Supérieur wines.  “Sharp, but well defined fruit and clear black pepper spices from this Médoc-located vineyard owned by the family of Nadalié coopers.  Needs time to open up, but has the three clear benefits of 2010 – freshness, fruit and tannins.  One to keep a few years, and decant before drinking.”

Chrsitine Nadalié’s wines from Château Beau Rivage and from her Haut-Médoc winery, Clos la Bohème, are also featured in the Guide Hachette des Vins 2013, the Guide Bettane & Desseauve des Vins de France 2013, and the Guide des Meilleurs Vins à Moins de 20 € 2013, published by the Revue du Vin de France.

Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2013

Château de la Bonnelière

The Guide Hachette des Vins 2013

The 2010 vintage of the wine chosen by Gourmet Odyssey at Château de la Bonnelière, has been selected by the highly respected Guide Hachette des Vins 2013.  “The 2010 offers complex aromas of cherry, blackcurrant and violet.  Smooth in the mouth with silky tannins, this well balanced wine marries well with roast beef.

Château de la Bonnelière’s wines have also been chosen for the Guide Bettane & Desseauve des Vins de France 2013.

Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2013

Domaine Chapelle

The Guide Hachette des Vins 2013

From the range of Côte de Beaune wines that Domaine Chapelle makes, the Guide Hachette des Vins chose their Beaurepaire Santenay 1er Cru 2009 to be included in the guide.  « A vineyard that is almost 40 years old, organically certified since 2009, is at the origin of this ruby wine, delicately floral and fruity on the nose, supple and fine on the palate, without overdoing it on the tannins or wood.  To drink in 3 to 4 years.”

La Revue du Vin de France Chablis

Domaine Jean-Marc Brocard

The Revue du Vin de France, N° 566 November 2012. Chablis – a peaceful remedy

The RVF recently chose Domaine Jean-Marc Brocard as its top pick in their article covering wine tourism in Chablis.  “Julien Brocard proves he has the same determination as his father, Jean-Marc, with a few noble objectives: to offer a wide range of quality wines and to welcome people to the vineyard thorugh a mix of wine tasting workshops, charming accommodation, and hands-on events.  One of the French champions in wine tourism.”

Domaine Jean-Marc Brocard’s wines have also been chosen for the Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France 2013, the Guide Hachette des Vins 2013, the Guide Betanne & Desseauve des Vins de France 2013, and the Guide des Vins en Biodynamie

 Decanter Rhône Valley Wines

Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2013

Domaine Stentz-Buecher

The Guide Hachette des Vins 2013

From the wide selection of Alsace wines that Domaine Stentz-Buecher produces, the Guide Hachette des Vins chose their Gewurztraminer Rosenberg this year to be included in their guide.  This wine comes from the same Rosenberg vineyard as the Pinot Gris chosen by Gourmet Odyssey.  “The wine has a complex bouquet and is generous, with spicey hints and exotic fruits.”
