Our partner winemakers selected for the 2016 wine guides

News from 22/09/2015

Once again Gourmet Odyssey's partner wineries have had their wines selected by the most prestigious wine guides.

From the thousands of wines tasted, here is a selection of the wines that made it through to the 2016 guides.

Guide Hachette 2016

Domaine Chapelle

Domaine Chapelle, located in the southern Côtes de Beaune village of Santenay, was selected for the Guide Hachette des Vins de France 2016 guide for a number of its 2012 vintage wines. We're proud to say that the "Clos de Cornières" wine, which is the red wine chosen for the Gourmet Odyssey Wine Experience, received two stars for its "expressive 2012 vintage of cherry and spices, consistent, suave and smooth on the palate. It has good length that is fresh and full of life."

Domaine Jean-Marc Brocard

In the Chablis region of Burgundy, Domaine Jean-Marc Brocard has been selected for a number of wine guides such as the Bettane & Desseauve 2016 guide, the Guide Hachette des Vins de France, and the Guide des Meilleurs Vins 2016, published by the Revue du Vin de France. Many of their wines were chosen, notably their Chablis Sainte Claire and their Petit Chablis.

Domaine La Cabotte

In the southern part of the Côtes du Rhône region, Domaine la Cabotte also caught the eye of the experts. The Garance wine chosen by Gourmet Odyssey was already a medal winner earlier in the year at the Millésime Bio organic wine fair, and has now also been included in the Guide des Bonnes Affaires du Vin guide from the Revue du Vin de France and in the Bettane & Desseauve guide. The first rates it 14.5/20 for the 2014 vintage, and the second hails "an excellent 2013. Ripe and generous. Here's a full, and very spicy Massif d'Uchaux."
 Guide Hachette 2016

Domaine Allegria

Further south, in the Languedoc region, the Guide Hachette des Vins wine guide awarded a star for the Cousu Main 2012 wine, produced by Domaine Allegria. "This wine, made with lots of care, is full of strength that is hinted at by its dark colour. Fine mineral notes rub shoulders with intense cocoa, coffee, and red fruit aromas. The tight and fine tannins give the foundation necessary for a long and sophisticated wine."

Château Beau Rivage

Château Beau Rivage, in the Médoc region of Bordeaux, is included in the Bettane & Desseauve and Guide Hachette des Vins de France 2016 wine guides. The Clos la Bohème, Haut-Médoc, Cru Bourgeois wine is awarded a star in each of the guides. The 2011 vintage in the first, and the 2012 vintage in the second, describing it has "having a good freshness. The bouquet is very pleasing. Full bodied and supple, this is a big and round wine that has a long finish.

Château de la Bonnelière

And last but not least, Château de la Bonnelière in the Loire Valley is featured in the Bettane & Desseauve and Guide Hachette des Vins de France 2016 guides. In particular, the wine chosen by Gourmet Odyssey, the 2013 vintage of the « Clos de la Bonnelière » was selected by the Guide Hachette for its "deep ruby colour, and slight vanilla and mature fruit aromas. On the palate, the fruit gives way to spices and reveals a good tannic structure."

Congratulations to all our partner winemakers for these mentions and accolades which bear testament to their hard work, skill and devotion in the vineyard and cellar.
