The 2020 wine guides select Gourmet Odyssey partner wineries

News from 26/11/2019

As usual, the organic wineries chosen to be the partners of the Gourmet Odyssey Wine Experience have had their wines selected amongst the best in France and included in the 2020 wine guides.  Just reward for their hard work and dedication year after year.  Here is a selection of the awards:

Bettane et Desseauve 2020

Château de la Bonnelière

Bettane+Desseauve chose two wines from Château de la Bonnelière, including the Chinon Clos de la Bonnelière wine chosen for the Gourmet Odyssey Wine Experience, noting it for its delicacy.  The other wine was the 2017 Chinon La Chapelle, the 2016 vintage being also selected by the Guide Hachette, along with the 2017 Silice white wine.

Domaine Stentz-Buecher

The 2017 Pinot Gris Rosenberg wine chosen for the Gourmet Odyssey Wine Experience at Domaine Stentz-Buecher was selected by the Bettane+Desseauve 2020 guide, being rated 14,5 out of 20.  From the same vineyard, the 2017 Gewurztraminer Rosenberg  was also included, as was the 2017 Riesling Steingrubler Grand Cru.  Domaine Stentz-Buecher was also mentioned in the 2019-20 Guide Carité des bonnes adresses du vin bio et biodynamique (good addresses for organic and biodynamic wines).
Le Guide des Vins Zéro Pésticides

Château Coutet

The 2015 vintage of the Château Coutet Saint-Emilion Grand Cru, the wine chosen by Gourmet Odyssey, was selected for the 2019-20 Guide Carité organic and biodynamic wine guide.  The 2016 vintage of the same wine was given 4 stars in the Guide des vins zéro pésticides.  They  called it “a great wine.  Gourmand on the palate with a nice fruity body, it’s well balanced between the tannins, acidity and fruit.”
The 2020 Hachette organic wine guide

Domaine Chapelle

Both the red and the white wines selected for the Gourmet Odyssey wine Experience were rewarded by the 2019-20 Guide Carité organic and biodynamic wine guide.  The 2016 Santenay Blanc white wine was described as having “a very good structure, well balanced between smoothness and freshness.  A great white wine.”  They also selected the 2013 vintage of the Clos des Cornières red wine for its “elegant and distinguished nose... A fine wine, and very aromatic.”
Two of Domaine Chapelle’s wine were selected for the 2020 Guide Hachette organic wine guide.  The 2016 Santenay Beaurepaire Premier Cru  wine was awarded a star and described as being “open with notes of blackcurrant and raspberry.  On the palate, it is smooth, fruity with a touch of spice brought by the elegant and silky tannins.”  The winery’s more powerful 2015 Aloxe Corton Les Petites Lolières Premier Cru was awarded two stars.  The Guide des vins zéro pesticides (Guide to wines with no pesticides) included the winery’s 2016 Chassagne-Montrachet Morgeot Premier Cru red, 2016 Santenay Beaurepaire Premier Cru red, and the 2017 Santenay Les Gravières Premier Cru white.

 The 2020 Hachette Wine Guide

Domaine Allegria

The 2017 vintage of the Tribu d’A red wine, which is also the wine chosen for the Gourmet Odyssey Wine Experience, was selected by the Guide Hachette.  “A Languedoc wine full of character with a deep purple colour and intense nose that reveals black fruit, cherry, bush and spice.  It’s a full wine on the palate, rich with crunchy tannins, aromatic and a touch of eucalyptus that brings freshness to the finish. Pure pleasure, and will be even better in a couple of years.”  The winery’s 2017 Poivre de Mourvèdre red and 2017 Dolce Vita rosé wines were also selected.
